Supplemental support within a care facility
  • When circumstances dictate a move into a care facility, we can supplement the care provided with additional one-on-one companionship
  • You can engage us directly to provide services at an hourly rate as outlined in a customized care plan (family or client funded care).

What is CDHCI?

Wondering about the Client Directed Home Care Invoicing Program (CDHCI)? This program offers individuals who are approved or eligible for AHS Community Home Care, including Self Managed Care (SMC), the valuable opportunity to handpick their preferred private home care services provider without the hassle of invoice submissions for reimbursement. With CDHCI, clients gain more control over their care and scheduling while benefiting from the personalized relationships and exceptional customer service that come with partnering with a private home care provider like Lean On Me Companion Care.

The Client Directed Home Care Invoicing Program (CDHCI) stands as a forward-thinking offering from Alberta Health Services (AHS) designed to assist clients in meeting their personal care needs, respite, and homemaking requirements. As the provider agency (that’s us!), we deliver the services you or your chosen representative have arranged, and we handle the billing process by directly invoicing AHS through Alberta Blue Cross for the care provided.

When you opt for Client Directed Home Care, you gain the flexibility to select your preferred provider, experience smoother cash flow through direct billing, and even have access to additional services if your budget allows. Many families utilize this funding to significantly reduce the costs associated with ensuring their loved ones remain safe and comfortable in the familiarity of their own homes.

How Do You Apply for Client Directed Home Care?

When considering Client Directed Home Care Invoicing services (CDHCI) with Lean on Me Companion Care, keep these key points in mind.

  • You need to reside in Alberta with a valid Alberta Health Care Card to qualify for home care services
  • A home care assessment is required, conducted by an AHS Case Manager
  • Your care needs should be: manageable at home, predictable, and consistent (as home care is meant to support those who can comfortably receive care in their own residence)
  • You would be responsible for paying any additional services directly to us.  These charges may include: additional hours beyond the approved limits, vacation pay, overtime, equipment and other expenses (these expenses would not be covered by the CDHCI program)
  • To start the assessment process, simply call 811.  The agents will help you understand the steps and give you the information you need.  For more comprehensive details on home care services, visit the Alberta Health Services website.
